Nested behind tall cedars on the Yellowhead Highway near Skidegate, Haida Gwaii, is a narrow gravel trail that leads to one of the most mysterious and photographed sights on Graham Island; Balance Rock, a gigantic boulder impossibly poised on a narrow footing, left behind by a glacial retreat. Ocean mist drifting through moss-draped cedars contribute to the islands’ mystical atmosphere.

NL I Genesteld achter hoge ceders op de Yellowhead Highway in de buurt van Skidegate, Haida Gwaii, is een smal grindpad dat leidt naar een van de meest mysterieuze en gefotografeerde bezienswaardigheden op Graham Island; Balance Rock, een gigantisch rotsblok dat op een onmogelijk smalle voet staat, achtergelaten door een gletsjer. Oceaanmist die door met mos gedrapeerde ceders drijft, draagt bij aan de mystieke atmosfeer.
